Received from Heather, Guy's sister today 19th July.
"Imagine my surprise, immediately followed by my GULP! when I received a voicemail on Monday telling me that a ship had been in touch with the Commodore of Newport Yacht Club to pass on a message from Guy: Red Admiral's rudder has received some damage, but Guy is able to continue his journey, but he is running out of water…
The Commodore (Mr Norm Bailey) asked the ship to call Guy back and ask if he needed Coastguard assistance; the answer was a definite no. So we waited for the next ping… luckily it came in just as it should and so did this morning's. Both show progress (in total 70 land miles; 113 km; 61 nautical miles) west towards Newport. Rain was expected overnight, so let's hope Guy managed to catch some.
Webmaster – Guy is only about 5-6 days out from Newport, all being well, to follow his progress browse to Guys tracker site
