Contessa 26 Red Admiral with skipper Guy Waites take on the Jester Challenge.

Guy Waites said "Over the past 17 years I have raced and delivered boats from 24 ft to 75 ft, with weekend sailors to Whitbread rock stars, during which time I have worked my way through the RYA's syllabus until passing my Yachtmaster's exam in 2000, but all the while I've had one burning ambition….. to sail single handed across an ocean!"
Red Admiral - Guy Waites

The Jester Challenge is a single-handed trans-atlantic event for boats 20-30 ft from Plymouth to Newport, Rhode Island.

One of the aims of The Jester Challenge is to give genuine Corinthians the opportunity to sail in company across the Atlantic without having to pay entrance fees that are better spent on their yachts.

This year's Jester Challenge is a celebrates the 50th anniversary of Blondie Hasler's original Observer Single-handed Trans-Atlantic Race. There are over 24 entries from as far afield as Russia, Australia, Switzerland and Kenya.

The start was off western end of Plymouth Breakwater at 1300 on Sunday 23rd May 2010.
