The officers, committee and membership of the CO 26 Class Association were saddened to hear of the loss yesterday of the late Jeremy Rogers MBE and our thoughts and condolences are with Fiona, Kit and Simon and all of the Rogers family.
The CO 26 members and owners will always remain so very grateful to Jeremy for his foresight with David Sadler in the design and construction of what has become such a long lasting and respected small classic cruiser, (the first of which was launched 56 years ago) that has gone on to and achieved such a fabulous record of local waters plus ocean sailing with many racing successes combined.
Apart from Jeremy’s international and national racing successes, his Yachtsman of the Year award, his 3 overall Round the Island wins in Rosina he remained committed to the class and members and was an Honorary Member of the Association (as is Fiona) and until very recent times took on a keen grandfatherly interest in the 26 Class, and always ready to offer subsequent generations of owners an advisory pearl of wisdom and wise word in response to technical questions.
In sailing terms, the CO 26 class will miss him immensely as will the sailing world, from the south coast, to nationally and internationally, and in particular the great Contessa Family.
