Very sadly the decision has now been taken that we have no alternative other than to cancel the Association’s planned AGM on 7 November at Marchwood YC.
We would like to thank Marchwood for having agreed pre pandemic to host this meeting, plus their courteous and efficient correspondence and event planning in the early days. Also our thanks to Bob Coates who as many will know is a member and recent flag officer at the club, for all his help to facilitate the planned meeting. It’s a great shame, personally we have always enjoyed it and seeing members for a good dinner and chinwag and know others will feel the same.
So, following the popularity and apparent success of the class Zoom meetings in June and August we are going to hold another Zoom members meeting on the same evening and have great pleasure in inviting all members to join us then at 18.00 hrs. The plan is to try an informal style AGM, and please see your invitation and the agenda attached.
Company affairs seem in order and we are not aware of any pressing matters to be considered. We are planning to circulate the Accounts and Secretaries Report etc in advance to those members who we know are going to join the meeting, in a similar way to tabled docs if we were able to hold a meeting in person. We plan the meeting to last between 1 and 1.25 hours.
The meeting will include two highlights. The first is a remote prize giving for the Nationals, and the other is the main speaker. Our popular Welsh member David Owens (he who “attended” the two earlier zooms in his cockpit backdrop with a gentleman’s glass of red) will be speaking on the delights of sailing and cruising in Cardiff Bay and nearby. Following the earlier talks of cruising in the Solent, the East Coast and then the North East, David’s presentation promises to be an interesting complimentary addition.
If at any point any members have any questions about the Association Company that you would have liked to raise at the AGM, then please do not hesitate to email or write or call us. We will of course, try and incorporate some discussion in the zoom meeting, and prior notification of anything you would like to mention will help manage this.
