Results and short report.

A successful class Nationals was held and completed over the weekend of 12 and 13 September 2020, well hosted by the Island Sailing Club. 11 boats entered and enjoyed some superb Solent racing in ideal conditions in all 3 races in south westerly breezes ranging from 10 to 18 knots. It was a busy Solent for racing with the IRC Nationals, and the J 70 Nationals amongst others sharing the central and western Solent. We also had the pleasure of the CO 32 fleet for their simultaneous National event with about 17 boats held in conjunction with our  class racing.

Racing was once again held for 3 classes, Class 1 for IRC rated boats, Class 2 class handicap (with spis) and class 3 (without spis). Results for the overall fleet were also provided on Class handicap in tandem to the class results.

In a competitive Class 1 High Potential (Ross and Sarah Appleby) joined by another former champion Craig Cossar scored an impressive 2 wins and a second to take the class. Jiminy Cricket (M and B Harrison) were second on countback from Coco of Parkstone (Peter Saxton) strongly sailed by Peter, his son Tim and Tim Goodhew. Peter’s son Ben was busy in the meantime winning the J70 Nationals on the adjacent course. These 3 boats were the first 3 this year in the overall results.

In Class 2 Seahorse (Diana Nicholson) impressively won all 3 races, from Contessa Julia (Nic Stevens) sailing in his first 26 Nationals. Curvaceous (Deborah and Mark Arnold), and helmed this year by the well known Lymington sailor Keith Willis likewise scored 3 bullets in Class 3 from Sulali (Simon Jollands) and Alboran (Robert Lombardelli).
