CONTESSA 26 CLASS ASSOCIATION LTD

55th  ANNIVERSARY ANNOUNCEMENT OF RALLY POSTPONEMENT ANDNEW ARRANGEMENTS 7 to 11 JULY 2021.

The recent ongoing covid variant(s) news has been most unwelcome.

It has created event planning uncertainty and is understandably concerning to members which has sadly reflected in the comparatively small number of confirmed registered entries for the Rally. Unfortunately the numbers, whilst forming a nice group, will not do justice to such a major Anniversary for the Class.

The Committee after very careful thought and discussion in the last few days have concluded that it will therefore be for the best to postpone the main Anniversary celebration to 2022.

Whilst this announcement today is made with something of a heavy heart, the decision has been carefully taken in the best interests of the event as a whole.

However we do plan to go ahead with some of the arrangements which are of a far lees formal nature as follows:

  1. Nationals 7 and 8 July 2021.

First of all this will be going ahead as planned on the 7th and 8th July based out of the Haven. Peter Saxton is organising it on behalf of the Association and we are acting in conjunction with RLYC. Entries are now being opened and there will be a separate announcement over the weekend.

  1. 2021 Summer Gathering 9 to 11 July 2021.

We already have in place mooring reservations at Dan Bran for the Rally and the Haven for the Nationals as well as venue bookings. You will probably like us have found that trying to book visitor slots in marinas and hospitality at the moment is demanding. We are therefore planning to use these facilities for a scaled down informal and flexible “Summer Gathering” assuming the Government regulations to be announced on 14 June effective 21 June allow us to do so. It should incorporate the Friday BBQ, Saturday Pontoon Party and supper at RLYC, at the same times and with the same menus and pricing as already circulated to Entrants.  The Association sponsorship will be carried over to the 2022 event so the full mooring fee and Sunday breakfast will be payable in July.  This will all need a revised Social Booking Form so existing entrants should please discard the current forms, and await the new forms.

We hope that all existing entrants will consider joining us then. Perhaps an informal get together with other CO 26 members might appeal in these difficult days. It does to us!  The committee will all be there and looking forward to it.

Best wishes
